School Board Candidates in the News

Updated: May 10, 2021

There are two school board seats up for election in Pennsbury's Region 3. Running for a two-year term is Democrat Jeannine Delwiche:

Delwiche said that "while some politicians favor prioritizing short term cost savings at the expense of our community’s future, I take a longer term view. If elected, I will work to ensure that the Pennsbury School District provides a quality education that gives all of our children the chance to pursue their dreams. She said that as former professor, she has witnessed first hand "how the shortfalls in early education translate into greater difficulties in college and careers."
As to the possible merger of the Pennsbury and Morrisville districts, Delwiche said, "Without specific details on the nature of such a merger, it would be irresponsible for me to state a position. It seems unlikely that the Pennsbury School Board would accept any merger proposal that was not mutually beneficial."

Two, four-year terms on the school board also are up for election in Region 3. Linda Palsky, who is seeking re-election to the seat she has occupied as an appointee since 2020; and Dr. Joanna Steere.

Steere wants to ensure that all children in the district receive a quality, equitable education to be able to reach their fullest potential, while supporting the staff and ensuring that the district's schools are well maintained.
As to a merger, she said, "If elected, I would carefully evaluate any proposal to merge districts; I can only see a path forward to a merger if it would prove beneficial to both districts. If a proposed merger does not clearly result in a win-win situation for both Pennsbury and Morrisville School Districts, including their broader communities, it should not proceed."
Palsky said her priorities are to get the students back in school five days a week and to work with the incoming superintendent "to make sure he has a smooth transition."
"The Pennsbury diversity is our strength," she said, adding that she wants to give the district's students "the best education our community can afford." She wants to ensure that every child has an equitable education.
She said a merger with the Morrisville School District would be "a big deal," and that many factors would need to be considered.
"I've raised three children who have all benefited from the quality education provided by the Pennsbury School District, and I have lived in the community for over 40 years. I am committed to a strong public educational opportunity for every student," she said.
